We are a proudly South African architectural design studio based in Johannesburg, Gauteng and Mossel Bay, Western Cape. With over ten years of experience, nationwide, in residential, retail and commercial projects. Specialising in high-end luxury homes and multi-unit residential developments.
We are driven by passion, integrity and perfection.
In consultation with other professionals and contractors, we pay close attention to our clients’ needs and wants, designing bespoke spaces which becomes a part of their lives and is shared with family and friends.
We strive to give our clients a professional and enjoyable experience throughout the whole process, from the initial concept designs right up until the last coat of paint.
Gouveia Architecture and Design is registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).

our process

inception

Together with the client, we establish a project brief. Discussing the project requirements, site constraints, timelines and budget.

concept

The design process starts with a pen and paper, sketching layout alternatives in order to come up with the best and most suitable layout possible. We meet the client and present a floor plan, where there is a good understanding of spaces, sizes and flow.

design development

The conceptual floor plan is then transformed into a 3D working model. A photorealistic 3D presentation is presented to the client and an idea of style, materials and aesthetics are visible.

documentation

After the client’s approval, the technical/working drawings commence. These are the drawings which are submitted to the Local Authority and Home Owners Association (if applicable), as well as the drawings used for the construction of the project.

construction

We assist with obtaining construction quotes and giving our professional recommendation. We then facilitate the construction process, from the initial site handover meeting right up until the inspection of works for practical and final completion (snag list).
